Actions of the Lowe Countries
April 16-18
~The Siege of Maastricht~
now the site for the 2010 Actions of the Lowe Countries

Location: a secluded, privately owned recreation camp a few miles north of San Francisco in Marin County

Where we'll camp is in the trees at the center of the picture

Join us for the next Actions of the Lowe Countries – learn – practice – escape the 21st century for a few days – relax and enjoy a different environment with fresh air, wonderful vistas, and the natural world literally at your fingertips!

New Venue this year only for Actions of the Lowe Countries: Camp Tamarancho, on the slopes of Mt. Tamalpais in Marin County.

The setting is private and very secluded, many acres of a park-like environment with groves of trees and open land in its natural state. With more land available than before this year, we’ll be able to structure our activities to take advantage of a rare opportunity to stretch out. Designated camping areas are tucked among trees – with running water easily available, permanent toilets and fireplaces. The center of our encampment will be where there is a large, sturdy A-frame shelter with its own fireplace. Our event planned for 2010 will be held at another location, so if you want to enjoy the environs of Camp Tamarancho, please come this year. Camp Tamarancho is owned and operated by the Boy Scouts of America. Although primarily used by the Boy Scouts, we have the opportunity to make use of this area during the Camp’s off season.

Easy trails give you access to many areas of the Camp to let you walk in beautiful surroundings to activities at:
  • The drill field
  • The shooting range
  • The archery range
  • The ax-throwing range

The emphasis on this year’s School of the Renaissance Soldier: Actions of the Lowe Countries will be on infantry; cavalry won't be featured. Musketeers can use the live-ammunition-approved shooting range for target shooting with ball. Pike will learn new techniques such as assaulting fortifications. The many acres available will allow us to have a march and mock engagements over a wide territory. For example, we may set up a march – with an ambush.

But don’t just read about this and dream. Come join us! Go to your calendar to set aside those three days: April 17-19.

You can now register online – and we strongly encourage you to do so because the better we can forecast the attendance, the better we can allocate our resources at Camp Tamarancho. Interested? Then please go to this Web page.
